About The Barrow and the Blade

Hello, I’m Martin Whitney, a writer of grim tales and strange fiction. Here you’ll find stories of war and treachery, monsters in the woods, doomed heroes, bored gods, and dead things that won’t stay buried.

The Barrow and the Blade is my corner of the world for fantasy, horror, and the occasional lurch into sci-fi. Sometimes mythic, often brutal, frequently garnished with a squirt of arterial blood and a dollop of black humour.
